Evangeline Tay Su Ann Model fined $2,000 for hiring fall guy"

SINGAPORE - A model has been fined $2,000 for hiring someone to take the rap for a traffic offence she committed.

Evangeline Tay Su Ann, 22 years old, bribed a property agent to take the blame after she beat a red light on Jan 22, 2008. She paid the property agent $1,000.

Judge Jill Tan said that it was unnecessary to jail her as she was suffering from depression at the time of the offence. The judge also said that Evangeline Tay Su Ann had a low-risk of re-offending and had a clean record since 2008.

She could have been jailed up to seven years, fined or both.

Her two accomplices were jailed in the last two years. The policeman who helped her, former Deputy Superintendent of Police, 40-year-old Kelvin Choo Yew Beng, was sentenced to six months in jail in August 2010.

The property agent, 35-year-old Leung Man Kwan, was jailed three months in 2009.

Evangeline Tay Su Ann is currently undergoing treatment for her condition. Her psychiatrist said that her condition has improved. Her lawyer, Lim Kia Tong, said that she will be appealing against her sentence.

Evangeline Tay Su Ann had driven her house-mate's car without his consent. She did not possess a valid driving licence at that time. She beat a red light as she was driving at the junction of Lornie Road and Sime Road.

As a result, her house-mate, a Bulgarian business manager, received a summons from the Traffic Police in Feb 2008.
Evangeline Tay Su Ann then approached Choo for help. He roped in Leung to take the rap, after which Evangeline Tay Su Ann paid her $1,000.

She is currently a business student at the Singapore Institute of Management.

I guess the police friend may already be a ‘former’ friend ended up with a prison sentence of 6 months while the property agent from jail in 3 months exclaimed proudly despite his alleged depression as reported in news in the car at least one workshop manager, said that despite the severe penalties, drivers are known to still try to get others to blame for the crimes of their traffic.

Do to avoid getting demerit points, “said Mr. William Nam, 50, referring to the 12 points and fined $ 200 for running a red light.Evangeline Evangeline Tay Su Ann His Ann, 21, a student, is accused of property agent to man Kwan Leung, 34, $ 1.000 in February 2008 in exchange for assuming criminal responsibility for the crime of trafficking. The money is said to have been given by former police Kelvin Yew Beng Choo, 38, whose case is pending.

Man Leung Kwan, 34, accepted $ 1,000 to take the fall by Ms. Evangelina Tay Its Ann, 21, who got a business manager of Bulgaria car for a ride without his consent while he was in the year.Evangeline Tay Su Ann abroad in January Evangeline Tay Su Ann Its Ann, 21, a student had admitted to driving a car along the road Lornie Jan 22, 2008, when she had no driving license, driving without insurance, and beating the red light at the T-junction road Lornie siganlized of Sime Road.

A student was fined $2,000 yesterday for perverting the course of justice by bribing a property agent to take the blame for a traffic offence she committed three years ago.

Evangeline Tay Su Ann, 22, committed the offence on Jan 22, 2008. Tay, who pleaded guilty in September last year, had driven her housemate's car without his consent.

She did not possess a valid driving licence and beat a red light at the junction of Lornie Road and Sime Road. As a result, her housemate received a traffic summons in February 2008.

Evangeline Tay Su Ann approached Kelvin Choo Yew Beng, 39, a former police deputy superintendent, for help. He roped in Leung Man Kwan, 34, who received $1,000 from Evangeline Tay Su Ann for taking the blame on her behalf. Evangeline Tay Su Ann transferred the money to Choo on Feb 19, 2008, and he passed it to Leung through an Internet bank transfer.

Evangeline Tay Su Ann had already been fined a total of $1,900 last year for her traffic offences.

Choo was jailed for six months in March last year and Leung for three months in 2009.

Tay's lawyer, Mr Lim Kia Tong, told the court that Evangeline Tay Su Ann would appeal against the sentence.

Yes. She's the same Evangeline Evangeline Tay Su Ann featured in Channel 5 "Deal or No Deal".

And yes, she gets a very light fine of $2,000 considering the ofences that she committed:
1) Evangeline Tay Su Ann didn't (and hopefully will never) have a driving license.
2) Evangeline Tay Su Ann drove without permission the car of her 'housemate'.
3) Evangeline Tay Su Ann ran a red light.
4) Evangeline Tay Su Ann somehow got a police friend to rope in someone else, a property agent to take the rap.
5) That police friend (guess it may already be a 'former' friend) ended up with a jail term of 6 months whereas the property agent a 3-month jail.

But...No Deal!! She exclaimed proudly despite her supposedly depression (as reported in the news, at the very least!).

She intended to appeal against the fine. I do hope she'll get harsher penalty.

SHE got a police friend to rope in a woman to take the rap for beating a red light for the price of $1,000. For perverting the course of justice in 2008, Evangeline Tay Sun Ann, 22, was fined $2,000 on Feb 8.

Through lawyer Lim Kia Tong, Tay, who is now studying for a business degree at the Singapore Institute of Management, said she intends to appeal against the fine.

Her two accomplices were both jailed. Former deputy superintendent of police Kelvin Choo Yew Beng, 40, was sentenced to six months in jail in April last year for getting Leung Man Kwan to take the rap for Tay. For her role, Leung, 35, a property agent, was jailed three months in 2009.

In Tay's case, District Judge Jill Tan said that psychiatric reports indicated that there was a 'causal link' between Tay's depression and the commission of the offence. As she had kept on the right side of the law since 2008 and there was little chance of her repeating the offence, the judge found that it was not necessary to impose probation or a jail term.

Evangeline Tay Su Ann had pleaded guilty late last year. Then, the court heard that she ran a red light at the junction of Lornie Road and Sime Road in January 2008. She had taken a Bulgarian business manager's car out for a spin without his consent while he was abroad. Tay, who had been staying in the Bulgarian's house, knew she had been caught as she saw the camera flash go off.

Worried because she was driving without a licence and without the permission of the car's owner, she turned to Choo for help. Tay, who is the last to be dealt with, has also been fined a total of $1,900 for driving the car without a licence, without insurance and for beating the red light.

vangeline probably maintains her svelte figure by doing what she's really good at - juggling up to 20 hula hoops! Men would be really lucky to marry her as she claims to be very domesticated and family-oriented. Evangeline Tay Su Ann believes she can have it all - be a top-notch banker and a high-flying career woman and a wife and mother too. Her driving force in life is to live life to the fullest and be the best she can be in every aspect .
